OEG Offshore Pty Ltd., (OEG) a leading provider of offshore cargo carrying units and aviation services, has delivered a dedicated fleet of bespoke transportation frames for the Ichthys LNG project.
The three-year rental contract is for over forty bespoke Tubular Transportation Frames (TTFs) to support the drilling phase of the INPEX-operated Ichthys project in the Browse Basin offshore northern Australia.
The new tubular holders are Lloyds certified according to DNV 2.7-3 (R60) / ISO 10855 with a payload of 10,900 kg and will provide INPEX with an effective solution to protect and securely transport multiple chrome steel tubulars for their well completion operations.
Patrick Hanna, National General Manager of OEG Offshore Pty Ltd commented,
“OEG has designed and built a bespoke frame solution for INPEX to ensure that tubulars used for completions are protected from damage that can result in carbon steel contamination. The tubulars are already protected by a coating; however, it can easily be damaged and result in extensive corrosion both during transportation and storage in any oil producing environment.”
“It was essential that OEG's solution addressed these issues. We designed customised tarpaulin covers to isolate the slings from the chrome tubulars. In addition, specially designed scalloped cross-members were also supplied to allow the transportation of multiple sizes and quantities of tubulars in one frame and provide extra protection.
The drilling campaign commenced in March with OEG Offshore's full-service facility in Broome supporting the contract with the supply of the Tubular Transport Frames (TTF) along with standard and bespoke DNV 2.7-1 containers and baskets.
